Series 3: Skeletal Hulls
I am often torn between the desire to embellish my forms or leave them fully exposed. In this series the open gestural exoskeletons deceive as at times they appear to be line drawings melding into the surface it is secured to, light and shadow allow the viewer to see through and around the forms simultaneously; texture, shadow and line add to the multidimensional cornucopia of delights that are hard to capture in a photograph. These works are predominately rattan reed, cotton string, adhesive, encaustic wax, mica dust and paint which cloak them in the suggestion of heavy metal.
